What is The Good Rural?

The Good Rural is a nonprofit that advocates for services, resources and supplies for rural and urban communities through grant writing.

What is The Good Rural?

Grant writing is the practice of applying for funding provided by an institution such as a government department, corporation, foundation or trust.

In order to be awarded a grant, the organization must write and submit a proposal to be eligible to receive funds.

Grant writing is usually a result of researching the opportunity and adhering to the questions at hands.

How do you choose the schools?

For 2020, The Good Rural identified 189 schools across California that qualified for funding, based on socioeconomic data such as unemployment rate, teacher salaries, student literacy and math proficiency, geographic distance from city centers, and other factors.

How do you distribute products/donations?

Typically, we host virtual donation drives via YouGiveGoods, a charitable giving platform. Donations are transferred or shipped directly to the recipient organizations, approximately 15 business days after the drive end date.

How do I donate?

Follow The Good Rural on YouGiveGoods, our primary donation platform. Periodically throughout the year, we may also host virtual school supply drives on Amazon and we use PayPal to receive electronic donations.

How do I get a tax receipt for my donation?

You will be sent a tax receipt from the YouGiveGoods Foundation via email for the donated goods.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, your purchase through YouGiveGoods is tax-deductible. You will be sent a tax receipt from the YouGiveGoods Foundation via email for the donated goods.
